Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what data AskFreely ("we") handles and how. We are built privacy-first and do not sell your personal information.
1. If you use the Service as a guest
Guest conversations are stored locally in your browser (localStorage) on your device — not on our servers. If you clear your browser data, those chats are gone. To prevent abuse we process a one-way hashed form of your IP address for rate limiting; we do not store your raw IP for analytics.
2. If you create an account
We store the email and password you provide (passwords are salted and hashed — we never see them in plaintext), your conversations and messages, any settings, characters, generated images, and "memory" facts you let the AI keep. This lets us sync your history across devices.
3. AI processing (third parties)
To generate responses, the content of your messages is sent to AI model providers (currently OpenRouter and Cloudflare Workers AI) for processing. We send only what's needed to produce a reply. These providers process data under their own terms; we do not control their independent practices.
4. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies: a signed session cookie (to keep you logged in) and a guest-id cookie. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
5. What we don't do
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use the content of your private chats to target ads.
6. Data retention & deletion
Account data is kept while your account is active. You can delete individual conversations, your memory, and your account at any time in the app; deleting your account removes your conversations, messages, settings, characters, and images from our active systems. You may also email us to request deletion.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encrypted transport, hashed passwords, signed sessions). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
8. Children
The Service is for adults only and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us and we will remove the account.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise them, email support@askfreely.ai.
